2010 Tokio Millennium Re Triathlon Results

May 16, 2010

Coming in as the heavy favourite of the 2010 Tokio Re Triathlon, Tyler Butterfield won the race in a dominating fashion over 7 minutes ahead of the second placer.  The second placer, Ryan Gunn had an outstanding race and clearly has his best days ahead of him at only 17 years old.

Mr Butterfield, 27, was bested by 2 seconds out of the water by Peter Hallatt, but ended as the only competitor to go under the one hour mark. The triathlete, who represented Bermuda in the 2004 Olympics and plans to again compete in the 2012 London Olympics, is expected to be locked in a battle with his cousin-in-law Chris Estwanik at the upcoming May 24th Marathon.

The two top athletes could be seen congratulating each other after the race, Mt Butterfield on the right:

Karen Smith was the first female across the line in 8th overall, with Deanna McMullen hot on her heels only 14 second behind in 9th overall. For photos of the swimming click here, running click here, and cycling click here.
