Freisenbruch-Meyer Facebook Page: Win $250

FACEBOOK ICONFreisenbruch-Meyer is offering a promotion in which their 130th Facebook fan will recieve a $250 Phoenix gift certificate redeemable at any Phoenix store. As of this writing they have 111 fans, so within 19 more the winner will be chosen.

The Freisenbruch-Meyer Group provides insurance agency, broking, underwriting and management services to the domestic and international Bermudian markets. The insurance company says “You can never be too prepared for a Hurricane. Make sure you have your supply of batteries, candles, water, canned food and maybe even a generator. Become our 130th Fan and recieve a $250 Phoenix gift certificate redeemable at any Phoenix store to help purchase your hurricane supplies.“

  3. These sorts of social media strategies for amassing fans or followers are not entirely well thought out as the rules for winning are way too simple.

    These sorts of contests pop up all over the net and I am sure as a result there are people who have written scripts that will regularly poll the facebook or twitter page (or insert social network page here) and determine when the ideal moment is to automagically register, becoming Target Number fan in order to win.

    A much better strategy is something along the lines of:

    * First N number to like (follow or fan) X page will be automatically added to draw for their chance to win said prize

    As a result of this:

    1. You can’t build a script that helps you win
    2. People are rushing to become a fan
    3. Everyone has a sense that there’s a chance they’ll win
