Photos: Over 50 Graduate From Adult Education

Dressed in traditional caps and gowns, and before a large, cheering, and applauding audience, over 50 students graduating from the Adult Education School, walked onstage at City Hall to receive their GED diplomas. Several politicians were present in the audience, among them were Minister and Deputy Premier Paula Cox, Minister Neletha Butterfield, Minister David Burch, and MP Dale Butler.

Before the actual presentations Salutatorian Lorenzo Estepa-Cooke spoke. He was followed by fellow graduates Lee-Anne Stephens, Jahmeiko Perkins, and Chantia Davis, each of whom spoke about their experiences as attendees at the AES. After a speech by alumna Ms Patrice Hayward, the students were presented with their diplomas. Several students then came back onstage again to receive prizes and awards for scholastic as well as other performances. Valedictorian Kai Wallace-Meyer addressed the graduates and Michelle Hutton gave the final vote of thanks.

Listed as top performers in exams taken in December 2009 and out of 128 island-wide candidates were:

  • Jason Payne:- highest overall score, highest score in science, social studies, writing
  • Lorenzo Estepa-Cooke:- highest score in math (perfect), 2nd highest overall score, 4th highest score in writing
  • Jaciano Furbert-Wade:- 2nd highest score in social studies
  • Nya Rawlins:- 3rd highest score in social studies
  • Rhonda Allen:- 4th highest score in social studies
  • Cameron Smith:- 4th highest score in math, 5th highest overall score
  • Raynee Tweed:- 3rd highest score in science

Top performers in exams taken in March 2010 and out of 93 island-wide candidates were:

  • Cara Philip:- highest score overall, highest score in science, 2nd highest score in math, 4th highest scorer in reading and in writing
  • Wendy O’Connor:- 3rd highest score overall, highest score in social studies, 3rd highest score in writing
  • Jasmine Vickers-Brangman:- 2nd highest score in reading

Top performers in exams taken in May 2010 and out of 113 island-wide candidates were:

  • Kai Wallace-Meyer:- Highest score overall, highest score in all the subjects
  • Ryan Dumoulin:- 4th highest score overall, 2nd highest score in science
  • Khyron Tucker:- 2nd highest score in writing, 2nd highest score in math
  • Andrew Hayward:- 4th highest score in math.
