Bermuda Hogges Lose to Virginia Royals

Bermuda Hogges Football Club were bested by visiting team Northern Virginia Royals, when they beat the Hogges 2-1 at Bermuda Athletic Association field.

The Royals opened their account in the 17th minute of the first half through midfielder Richard Edgar, with his goal coming off of a deflection from right wing cross.

In the 49th minute, Hogges could have leveled the score when they were awarded a penalty, after Angelo Simmons was brought down in the 18 yard box. Hogges leading scorer Keishen Bean took the penalty, only to have Royals goalkeeper Harry Lockwood make the save.

Hogges were awarded their second penalty of the match 11 minutes later when Royals goalkeeper Harry Lockwood knocked out Keishen Bean in the 60th minute when the two players went for the ball.Mr Lockwood was automatically shown the yellow card. This time, Troy Tucker made no mistake with the penalty, as he struck it to his left, to level the match.

During the additional 3 minutes of injury time in the game, defender Seth Goldman, scored the second goal from a corner kick taken by Mark Wysacki in additional time. Goldman was unmarked and found the near post to head home an unchallenged goal giving the visitors the (2-1) final score, their second win in Bermuda.

Hogges will now play two more league games on the road before their season comes to an end.
