I have been following these incidents for the past two years. It is well documented that an increase in violent crime, home invasions, use of prohibited weapons was on the rise.

Machette sales are down, and Swiss Knives are a collectors item ( along with offshore Banks and IB)

What boggles my mind is how the Police via services like Bernews/RG et al want to contact the Serious Crime Unit with regards to anything suspicious they saw at the time/frame.

YO!!!!! Michael…give the public some details. I find it ironic that the Police want us to come forward etc, supply info but we have no damn clue as to what we are too supply.

I know they are taxed to their limit and should be supported but jingus…..

The worst thing Bermuda did was not heed Les Colonel De Burcholla.

Where’s the Governor. Off too the Tour De Franz. Where’s the Premier. Where’s the Zane Granger………

Government should have taken control and used those “BAD” doods to clean the streets and make this a safer place for all.

Damn the Waztminsta Sistim…………We need change and we need it now. People rise up…..take control, strike, close the place down until justice is served…….

Where the hell is Buck Burrows when we need him…………………………..

I cannot understand why the BPS find it necessary to import an English ”
expert” to deal with our local thugs.
Better use should be made of the Bermudian officers, many of whom are related to these people, know their families, attend the same functions etc. and have access to information that overseas officers will never have!
Several have many years service and have reached the senior ranks!(Inspectors,Chief Inspectors,Superintendents etc) What can the”expert” do that our own cannot/will not, especially in such a small place like Bermuda.
I am not suggesting we not use overseas expertise, however,it is not necessary under the circumstances.
It seems to be a case of not using resources properly.

Good point Rocky but remember, were dealing with “GANGS”.

Years ago and not that many there were ‘gangs’ but these were petty thieves and thieves of ‘opportunity’. I as a former Police Officer along with others knew them well. We diod not solve all crime but had a pretty good idea of who and whom was doing what, when and where.

Today is differant. Were talking “Turf” which has been around for years but on a higher level. Were talking millions of dollars of drugs, firearms, et al.

I have a lot of respect for most of the Officers that I know that came after me. Just read the papers and the blogs. Their names are mentioned often. And yes as you stated they are involved in all family, social, and all extra social funtions.

Times have changed and these “COPS” still do the same as they did prior but have an obsticle that has become more prevelant.

    Fear.

Gang members are killing each other but families say…”not my boy”. He’s the best dad, son, worker…arrybuddy loves him ………

Ok. Family wise he may be great but take him/her away from that set of circumstances and they get back into the role of suppression and control and being controlled and we have the recipe that we read, see, and hear each day.

Yes Daniels et all are great at their job. So are the constables that work each day attending too domestic violence, traffic accidents, courts, marine, summons’s et al. And yes those that, like Mike, and Jackman and all the top brass and Government departments that they have to deal with have to have a handle and a door to open to get to the bottom of everything.

Back too where I think you were going, all I can say is that we all need help. This new Asst/Comm comes ( in my view) with a bit more knowledge of all things involved with current events.

Hell…..I wish him luck but more importantly he’s not gonna solve crap overnight but he sure as hell can answer questions and give guidence because he has been there….done that.

Thats why he is here in Bermuda.

His juniors do what they do best and I commend them for doing so.

    Terry.
