Heavy Morning Rain Welcomed By Locals

July 2, 2010

The heavy rain that poured down this morning [July 2] was welcomed by many locals islandwide, as Bermuda is in the midst of the worst water shortage the island has seen for years. The amount of rainfall this year, as recorded by the Bermuda Weather Service, has been significantly lower than normal and caused a high demand for water across the Island and, with it, restricted hours at the Government water trucker outlets. The rain, a heavy downpour that many Bermudians would refer to as “good tank rain”, has provided welcome relief to many local households who have been struggling to obtain water.
