Poll: 74% Against Gov Takeover Of City

The results of the public opinion poll conducted between June 29 and July 4, 2010 show that 7 in 10 residents (72%) are not in favour of a Government take-over of the Corporation of Hamilton. The majority of residents felt that the Government should be focusing their attention on Fighting Crime (52%) or Improving Education (36%). Only 1% felt that attention should be placed on Dismantling the Corporation of Hamilton.

The survey used Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI) to interview a representative sample of 401 Bermuda residents aged 18 years and older. The data was weighted to be representative of Bermuda’s population on the following factors: age, gender, race, and nationality, with a margin of error for the study is +/- 4.9%.
