Youth Olympians Return From Singapore
Last night [Aug 28] three of the four teenage athletes who represented Bermuda in the 2010 Youth Olympics in Singapore returned to the island. The three pictured at the airport last night [sprinter Jeneko Place, sailor Owen Siese, and middle distance runner Taylor Ashley-Bean] all captured top 10 finishes in the world class event. Premier Meets With Cabinet Interns
The third year of the Cabinet Office Internship Programme started on August 2nd 2010. At approximately 6pm this evening [Aug 29] there was a small fire outside a Pembroke business. There were small flames visible shooting up from a tall wooden container located just outside of the Somers Warehouse building, located by the round-a-bout on Cemetery Road. Bermuda Wins Caribbean Youth Tennis Title
In what was nothing short of an outstanding showing from Bermuda’s teenage tennis players, they traveled to Curacao and captured the overall Caribbean Title, first and third place in the boys, and second place in the girls. Teams from Italy won both the Men’s & Women’s Bermuda Beach Tennis Titles which were played at Horseshoe Bay Beach on Friday, August 27th. Kite Surfing Accident: Man Airlifted Out
A Paget man has been airlifted out of Bermuda following an accident while kite-surfing. The man, a 35-year-old contract worker, was listed in critical condition suffering hand, leg and severe head injuries at King Edward Memorial Hospital prior to being airlifted out.
