Ryan Gunn 31st In Singapore

201 tokio run 17-year-old Ryan Gunn finished 31st in the Men’s Triathlon during the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games in a time of 1:04:29.34. Ryan recorded the 31st fastest swim time in the 750m swim in open water clocking 11:08, before riding the 20km Bike Course in 32:07. Ryan then ran the 5km Run Course in a time of 20:52.

In addition to Ryan, three other local teens qualified for the prestigious event. Jeneko Place,16, will compete in Athletics in the Boys’ 200 metre track event. Jeneko won silver medals in both the 200 metre and 100 metre events at the CARIFTA games in the Cayman Islands in April. Also competing in Athletics will be Taylor Ashley Bean,16, who will represent Bermuda in the Girls’ 1,000 metre event. Taylor also medaled in Cayman, winning a bronze in the Girls’ 3,000 metre open at the CARIFTA games. Owen Siese, 15, will represent Bermuda in the Boys’ Sailing competition. Owen won the right to represent Bermuda at the Youth Olympic Games at selection trials run by the Byte Class of Bermuda in early July.

The 2010 Summer Youth Olympics is taking place in Singapore, from August 14–26. It is the inaugural event of the Summer Youth Olympics, The 4-strong Bermuda team is among 3600 athletes aged 14 to 18 from 205 nations to contest the first Youth Olympic Games, which is the concept of International Olympic Committee president Jacques Rogge.
