Hurricane Igor Powers Up, TS Julia Forms
While another storm formed behind right it, Hurricane Igor quickly strengthened into a powerful category 4 hurricane today (Sept 12), with the US National Hurricane Center saying it could strengthen into a category 5 tomorrow. Jermaine Butterfield and Cleveland Maybury powered D18 to victory during the Bermuda Powerboat Association’s Round the Island Race held earlier today (Sept 12). Delegation To Promote Island In Canada
Starting tomorrow [Sept 13] the Bermuda Department of Tourism [BDOT], hoteliers and Bermuda Hotel Association [BHA] members will embark on a three city tour promoting the Island as a premier vacation destination. The 44th Annual Wahoo Fishing Tournament was held today [Sept 12], and saw dozens of boats compete for the win. Only catches taken on a 12lb, 16lb, 20lb and 30lb test line were eligible for entry, and wahoo was the only species of fish eligible. 64-Yr-Old Man Airlifted Out After Burglary
A 64-year-old Paget man has been airlifted overseas for medical treatment after being beaten by a burglar at the Tools & Equipment store on North Street in Pembroke early yesterday morning [Sept 11].
