17-Yr-Old in ICU Following Bike Accident

A teenager is today in the Intensive Care Unit following an accident last night [Sept 5] in Warwick. The 17-year-old Southampton man was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance following a collision with a car just before 10pm last night.

The incident occurred on Middle Road in Warwick near the junction with Morgan Road involving a car and a motorbike. The Police say that it appears that both the car and cycle were traveling east on Middle Road, with the car in front of the auxiliary cycle, and the vehicles collided as the car attempted to turn into Lindo’s Family Foods.

The driver of the car, a 40 year old Sandys parish man, was not injured. The auxiliary cycle received front end damage while the car received damage to its right side. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to contact PC Lesa Stovell on 295-0011
