Woman Robbed At Southampton Bus Stop

Last night [Sept 8] a man accosted a 29-year-old woman while she was waiting at a Southampton bus stop, and stole her purse which contained cash and personal items.

Around 9:40pm last night Police received a report of a robbery on South Road in Southampton, near the junction with Lighthouse Road.

They say that the victim was at a bus stop when she was accosted by a man who demanded her purse. The suspect managed to take the purse and fled the scene on foot before riding away on a motorcycle in a westerly direction.

The woman, a Sandys parish resident, was not injured. Her purse has green embroidered flowers on it and contained a quantity of cash as well as personal items.

Police state that inquiries into this incident are underway, and are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information to contact the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit on 234-1010.
