Premier Extends Condolences To Gordon Family

November 9, 2010

Premier Paula Cox extended condolences to the family of the late Olympia Corrent, daughter of the late Dr. E.F. Gordon and sister of former Premier Dame Pamela Gordon and current UBP MP Patricia Gordon Pamplin.

Premier Cox said, “I was saddened to learn of Ms. Corrent’s passing. Olympia Corrent was part of a politically rich family with a legacy that will live on for generations. She was an accomplished individual in so many disciplines, dedicating her attention to an array of interests. She was considered one of the members of that special club of female political activists who sacrificed her time and energy to shape and change the course of our political landscape.

“My thoughts and prayers are with her family during this difficult time and we in the wider family of the Progressive Labour Party Government remain ever-grateful for the immense contribution she has made to Bermuda and her people. On behalf of Government I extend heartfelt condolences to the Gordon family.”

Ms Corrent’s body was discovered on Saturday in a Hamilton area home, with the Police stating it had been there for some time. The Police stated today [Nov 9] that “a post mortem was carried out on the body of Ms. Olympia Corrent this morning by a certified physician who reported that death was as a result of natural causes.”
