No Truth to Rumors of Causeway Closure

December 21, 2010

causeway open signLate this afternoon (Dec 21), the Minister of National Security Lt. Col. David Burch moved to dispel erroneous reports regarding the Causeway Bridge and its rumored closure.

Minister Burch said, “Reports seem to be incorrectly circulating both online and on talk radio that the Causeway will close this evening due to unsettled weather conditions. I want to advise the public that no such directive has been given by my Ministry, the Emergency Measures Organisation (EMO) or the Bermuda Weather Service to close the Causeway, and we do not anticipate based on the current weather projections that the bridge will close.”

The Minister reiterated that unless the information comes from an official Government source, i.e. the EMO or the Ministry of National Security, then all other information is “simply a rumor”.

The B.R.R.M* was in action again. Talk show hosts should/could put an immediate stop to that ’causeway is closing’ talk/rumors unless it first comes from an official source.
