Recent Burglaries: Police Believe “Sole Culprit”

December 7, 2010

burglar photoThe Police say that “It appears that the recent burglaries in the Mount Hill, Mount Langton Crescent Pembroke area and the Friswells Road, Devonshire area may be linked and a sole culprit may be responsible. We believe this same culprit may also be responsible for the recent burglary of a Pembroke guest property where a visitor was slightly injured after confronting an intruder in his guest room.”

The three burglaries referenced above took place on the night of December 3rd, and all three times resulted in the burglar being confronted by a resident and leaving empty handed. In two of those instances, the would-be burglar was carrying what the Police term a “bladed article.”

They say that the suspect is believed to be a light skinned male, approximately 5’9” – 6’ tall of slim build. He may be in his late teens or early 20s.

Despite recent reported burglaries involving an intruder or intruders entering occupied homes, the Police say that the majority of burglaries reported to Police involve unoccupied homes.

A Police spokesman says that “Police officers have been actively working to put the offenders before the court. Currently a 27 year old man is facing burglary charges relating to two Pembroke guest properties while a 17 year old man faces an attempted burglary charge relating to a Warwick residence. In addition a 43 year old man has also appeared in court recently to face attempted burglary charges relating to two Devonshire residences.”

The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the public to remain vigilant regarding burglaries. All residents should make sure windows and doors are locked before leaving their homes unattended, even for short periods of time. Also, before retiring to bed at night all windows & doors should be locked with any valuables secured out of sight.

Police are appealing for anyone with any information about the burglaries in the Mount Hill, Mount Langton Crescent Pembroke area as well as the Friswells Road, Devonshire area to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011 or the independent confidential Crime Stoppers Bermuda hotline on 800-8477.

In addition, the Police say the investigation into the armed robbery at a South Road, Southampton residence around 12:10pm yesterday [Dec 6] is ongoing. Any witnesses or anyone with any information regarding that incident is encouraged to contact the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit on 234-1010 or the independent confidential Crime Stoppers Bermuda hotline on 800-8477.

          Call as it is,
Also your middle finger has a mouth, ears, nose and sometimes wears sun shades with a hat. It is attached to your neck and not your hand.

          • Call as it is says:

and there’s NOT a thing you can do about it!

            • Dragging A Lure says:

              Call as it is,
I certainly can, give me permission to perform surgery that will involve transfering your middle finger from your neck to where it belongs. A lot of HAha’s.

              Glory your Spirit.

              Cheers from Dragging

I’m really trying to get back the confidence I once had in our Police Force…Honestly I am….Don’t let me down Police, you’re almost there

Stay away from stop signs and old warrant sheets…oh and keep on the backs of all crackheads and repeat offenders Westgate releases…then we should be fine…I think….

Anymore suggestions anyone…if I left anything out feel free to add….

  3. Enough says:

I don’t agree with the US on a lot of things, however 3 strikes and you are out is one law which makes sense. In Bermuda it would help for sure. Also lets forget hotel Westgate and send them to somewhere like Sing Sing, or a proper prision where they would not want to go back.

  4. Bermyman says:

How about community service in the form of hard labour at Warwick camp for young offenders and minor crimes?? Oh wait we foce law abiding citizens to do that anyway I forgot!!! Send the bad ones to a hotel and the good ones to regiment. Makes alot of sense to me! Bermuda is so backward

    • bermyguy says:

Good One’s ? Good People Dont Go To Prison. The Regiment Is Not A Rehab Centre. Get Them Out Chained Together And Clean Up Our Roadside. I Bet That Being Seen In Public like That Would Be A Deterrent.

      • Bermyman says:

By good ones I mean normal law abiding people. The regiment could have a social rehabilitation aspect to it. Why not, it would serve alot more purpose on daily basis than it does now, at the moment it is a constructive waste of time for alot of young men.
