I know that’s you D. Sad. So young.

    • Lissa says:

@ areUserious. You had to let everyone know who it is huh. What happened to respecting peoples privacy until an official notice has been released. Are you serious???

      • Bri says:

I was thinking the same thing Lissa! Wow!

        • Truth says:

I still don’t know who it is. Saying that say, unless you know the deceased, the commentary from “areUserious” gets you no closer to an identity. My condolences to the family.

      • No problem says:

It’s no secret this is Bermuda everyone has a name even though it has not been released LISA… I don’t see nothing wrong with given your condolences…

        • Lissa says:

at ‘Truth’ and ‘No problem’Me neither. but you shouldn’t name people until it is official. AreUserious did name the person (by first name), and I am assuming that Bernews edited their comment after my post.

  4. bernews says:

Actually, we are allowed to name deceased people at our discretion, there is no ruling per se.

He has been named, extensively, on Facebook already, as typical. We [media] are normally the last to get the name online, as the persons name usually circulates on social media quickly after the incident.

I did edit out the shortened version of the first name, as personally – on sad posts like this – I personally prefer didn’t turn into arguments, so that was my effort to do so.

  5. Lissa says:

Agreed. I do not want to start and argument or debate. Thanks Patricia.

    • bernews says:

Thanks for your understanding Lissa, much appreciated…

Also, to explain, in this case there is a Facebook group, which names him, has a photo, and also details the manner of death…so its hardly unknown at this time.

A very sad situation alll around….

      • Sarah says:

And only those who know him or know people who know him will know, make sense?! RIP young man.

  6. Peace and Love says:

@Lissa & Bri.. you are saying that because I am guessing that you know the young man in queation…I did not use his full name..Is Lissa your name or does lissa stand for Lizbeth or Lisa? wouldn’t know unless I know who you are..@ Bri is Bri short for Brianna, Brittany? again I wouldn’t know unless I know you..as mentioned I didn’t use his full name and if I offended you because that’s what you may have called him or thought that I had used his full name..all I can say is…. well really there’s nothing that I can say I did not use his full name..I also see that Pat (from bernews) posted a reponse to your statement and clarified things so not my style to do something like that. Working in the profession that I am in I would have been held accountable as I have worked closely with him…

    • Peace and Love says:

I am also areUserious if logged in at home.

    • Bri says:

I appreciate your response! To be honest I didn’t know this young boy, however my point was that in respect to the family he name (long or short version) shouldn’t have been posted before it was ‘officially’ released. I certainly wasn’t knocking that fact that you were sharing your condolences.

Just extremely sad situation for his family and friends. My condolences to them.

      • areUserious says:

Do you realise that the 3 letters that I used can mean several different names? You do realise don’t you?? and that was the reason I did not fully name him..can’t fault you for your opinion..I hope you also posted the same sentiments on FB where the page was created without the families permission…
