Bermuda Win Opening Match in Dubai

IMG_4435The Bermuda National Cricket Team won their first match in Dubai, as they took on Dubai’s under/19 team at the first of five games on their training tour, which is designed to prep them for the ICC World Cricket League event to be held in Dubai from April 8 to 15, 2011.

The Bermuda National Team bowled the UAE U/19 Team all out for 218, with Stefan Kelly returning bowling figures of 9-0-37-3, while although he did not take any wickets, Delyone Borden had bowling figures of 10.-2-30-0.

Zamin Jaleel was the UAE Under 19’s top scorer with 67 before he was the first of three run outs in the innings.

In reply Bermuda scored 222/5, with Jason Anderson the top scorer with 73 off 120 balls. Anderson’s knock saw him hit four 4’s and 2 sixes, while Lionel Cann’s 46 came off 29 balls, he hit three 4’s and 3 sixes and Chris Foggo hit two 4’s in his knock of 44.

The full squad in Dubai [pictured]: David Hemp [Capt], Jason Anderson, Damali Bell, Delyone Borden, Lionel Cann, Fiqre Crockwell, Jordan DeSilva, Chris Foggo, Malachi Jones, Stefan Kelly, Kyle Hodsoll, Dion Stovell, Rodney Trott, Jim West and Kamau Leverock. Stephen Outerbridge and Irving Romaine were unable to tour due to injury, while Terryn Fray was unable to travel due to family reasons.
