Anti-SDO Petition To Close at Midnight

March 14, 2011

The online petition against the Tucker’s Point Special Development Order [SDO] will be closed out at midnight tonight [Mar.14], and organisers have asked that any concerned residents who are in objection to the SDO, who may not have signed the petition, do so before it is closed out.

Presently topping 1,700 signatures, the petition says, “We are asking that the Bermuda Government reconsider this Special Development Order (SDO) and reverse their decision to potentially allow building on this ecologically and culturally sensitive land. This will come before the Senate, and it is likely that this will be in the next session on the 16th of March, so it is imperative that action is taken now.”

The SDO has been the subject of frequent discussion and media reports, for previous articles relating to the topic, click here.

Update from one of the coalition organizers: The petition is still open. In part this is due to the fact that so far Minister Roban has declined requests to be presented with the petition. You can still click the link at the top of the story to either sign or look at the signatures and read the comments people have made. Right now there are 2045 signatures.
