Bermudian Athletes Named All-Americans

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association [USTFCCCA] announced that six Georgia team members including local athletes Latroya Darrell and Aaron Evans have earned the distinction of being either First Team or Second Team All-Americans following the NCAA Indoor Championships.

Latroya Darrell [triple jump] and Aaron Evans [800m] were named Second Team All-Americans.

Aaron Evans, from Devonshire, Bermuda, recorded a time of 1:52.67 to finish 14th in the 800 at his second NCAA meet. He became the indoor school record holder in the event in 2011 after clocking a 1:48.07 at the Husky Classic in Seattle earlier this year.

Latroya Darrell, from Smith’s Parish, Bermuda, reached 41-2.25 on her top triple jump and to take 15th in the competition. This was also her first NCAA meet after transferring from Central Arizona.

The USTFCCCA deems first- through eighth-place finishers in an event’s finals at the NCAA Championships First Team All-Americans. Those who finish ninth through 16th are Second Team All-Americans.
