Eric West Tees Off in Colombia

eric westBermuda golfer Eric West tee’d off in the $100,000 US Barranquilla Colombian Challenge in Rionegro, Colombia.

The Barranquilla is the first of two tournaments in Colombia co-sanctioned by the Tour de Las Americas and the Canadian Tour, the event also kicked off the 2011 Canadian Tour season.

West shot an opening round of 7-over par 79 and is currently T57th. He started his round off by shoot a Bogey on the Par 4 First Hole, after shooting Par on the Second Hole West had a Birdie on the Par 3 Third to move back to Even for his round.

A Double Bogey on the very next hole saw West fall to 2-over through the first Four Holes, he managed the shoot Par for the remainder of the Front Nine to make the turn at +2.

On the Back Nine Weat started out with back to back Bogey’s on Ten and Eleven, this was then followed by a Triple Bogey on the Twelfth that moved him to +7, after two Pars he then shot a Double Bogey on the Par 4 Fifteenth, but two consecutive Birdies on the Sixteenth and Seventeenth saw him fight his way back to 7-over Par for his round.
