Photos, Video & Results: Basketball All-Star Event
This past weekend [Mar.5] the Elite Basketball League held their All-Stars Weekend, with players coming out to compete in a Skills Competition, 3-point Shootout, a Rookie -vs- Sophomore game, and National Team vs ECL Select game.
The action took place inside the Somersfield Academy Gymnasium in Devonshire. Lucas Barbey from the ICS Hurricanes defeated Anthony Furbert from the Sea Venture Storm to win the Skills Competition, while Nate Holland from the DataLock Pros defeated Jonathon Noseworthy from the BHCS Scanners in a second sudden death to claim the 3-Point Competition. The Bermuda National Team defeated a Elite League All-Star Select 52 – 30.
The Sophomore All-Stars’ Allan Simmons scored 16 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in the 56-51 win. William Trott chipped in with 15 points, 3 assists and 1 rebound and Richard Warner scored 14 points, had 2 assists and 6 rebounds.
Juron Tucker had 19 points, 2 assists and 2 rebounds to lead the Rookie All-Stars, while Lucas Barbey scored 14 points and Ra’ees Tankard scored 12 points.
The listed names for the Skills Competition were Vernon Lambe, Seward Smith, Kenyatta Tucker, D’Mitri Butterfield, Michael Paynter and Hafid James. In the 3-point Shootout, entrants included Jonathon Noseworthy, Derek Lindo, Jaime Cedenio, Pushkin Douglas, Juan Looby, Nate Holland
The Rookies team lineup: Alex Mcleod, Raeese Tankard, Joshua Reid, Jahkeel Perinchief, Lucas Barbey, Donavon Livingston, Khaivon Castro, Dion Easton, Erik Pearson, Juron Tucker and Tevis Spence. Sophomores: John Seymour, William Trott, Anthony Furbert, Jericho Tucker, Quincy Trott, Richard Warner, Allan Simmons and Gikai Clark.
The National Team Select were Dean Jones, Jason Simons, Dale Jackson, Chris Crumpler, Dave Middleton, Phil Davis, Graham Robinson, Jonathan Lugo, Jonathan Minors, Shannon Thompson and Jonathan Lowe; while the ECL Select were Mike Smith, Akil Smith, Elisha Littles, Alex Butterfield, Chae Powell, Dion Bean, Leyde St. Leger, Joshua Nesbitt, John Lee, Derrick Hendrickson
