Public Assists Police With DUI Arrest
The Bermuda Police received an interesting call yesterday evening [Mar.8] – from a member of the public who took matters into their own hands to stop a case of drunk driving.
A member of the public caused an impaired driver on North Shore Road to pull over, then called Police to have them pick her up.
A Police spokesman said, “Around 5:55 pm on Tuesday, Police on mobile patrol responded to a report of an impaired driver on North Shore Road in Smith’s parish.
“It appears that a jeep was being driven erratically along North Shore Road near the junction with Jennings Road when it was caused to stop by a member of the public who called Police.”
“A second member of the public also assisted at the scene prior to Police arrival. As officers arrived they observed the driver, a 52-year-old Pembroke woman, displayed signs of being intoxicated.”
“She was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and detained before being bailed. A court appearance is anticipated in the near future.”
My oh my…now the public is doing the Police’s job better than the police. Some serious cost cutting there!
Yes, Bermudians, it’s ok to take a stand for safety and what’s right! Good job.
and another one done…
another one bites the dust!
Ya,we gonna get you too..another one bites the dust…
Not saying it is right to drink n drive but me I would have parked her car n took the keys n given her a ride home that’s just the way I am.
…..and then she does it again and the next time it could be far worse. I believe the members of the public did the right thing by calling the police. She will now know that her actions could have been serious and hopefully will not commit same offense again.
Well done public!!!
Would you have given her a ride home after she struck your child down, due to her erratic driving while being intoxicated behind the wheel? I think not….
It’s very disgusting to be drunk driving especially in the later part of the afternoon while children are riding their bikes!! Job well done!!
My comment moderation is on.
I feel that the people that stopped her and called the police did the right thing. Drunk driving at any time is wrong
Like a said before I don’t think what she did was right n thank god no one was hurt.I think she would have learnt her lesson by a stranger taking her keys now she has to pay $1000 n a year off the road.
Ah yeah!!!! that’s the best lesson yet?
A slap on the wrist by someone driving her home is not a lesson at all, chances are is that she will go right out and drive drunk again. There are no consequences to her actions.
A $1000 fine and a year off the road would really make her think about what she did and chances are she might just think about getting behind the wheel drunk.
Is it “Just Me” or am I really messed up. Your worried about a $1000 fine? Get real.
Taxi would have cost $30, but then again, poor car would have had to sit idle and the children and groceries….heavens,….
