Meet 2011 Miss Warwick East: Davika Hill
In the fourth of a series of profiles of contestants, Bernews today spotlights 22-year-old Davika Hill who is representing Warwick East in the upcoming Miss Bermuda Pageant.
The daughter of Dave Hill and Belinda Hill, she attended Bermuda Institute, and moved on to Bermuda College where she is studying education. The winner of the Miss Congeniality at the 2005 Hal Jackson Miss Talented Teen Competition, she recalls a 3-week mission trip to Thailand as a memorable experience for her, and a ”huge learning experience for me and something that I will never forget.”
Ms Hill said, “If I was to win Miss Bermuda, I would like to show the Bermudian Community that not all young people are out there getting into trouble, some of us are pursuing positive goals in life and are trying to better our community.”
One of her favorite Bible texts is Philippians 3:14, said Ms Hill, “It says that I can do all things through Jesus Christ who strengthens me. This text has helped me through a lot in life. I used to be very shy and to myself and as I got older I decided that it was time to break out of my shell.”
“The 2005 Hal Jackson Miss Talented Teen Competition was the first time I had done something major in public. I was nervous about it, but I made it through. Today I am glad that I decided to participate in that competition; it has helped to give me the confidence that I need to do the various activities I pursue today. I also believe that no matter what you do in life you should follow your heart and always be honest, and true to yourself.”
Sixteen young ladies will compete for the title of Miss Bermuda on June 12 at the Fairmont Southampton. Tickets, which range from $65 to $125, are available here on Bdatix.bm.

If you see the headline, move along you don’t have to hang around, look at it, gawk at it , enjoy it and then criticize it.
