No Age Group Prizes: May 24th Marathon

April Vesey the Road Race Committee Chair for the Bermuda Track and Field Association [BTFA] sent out an email about several aspects of the upcoming May 24th Marathon Derby,

Part of the email stated that, “They are also not having the usual Friday night awards ceremony. They are only giving prizes to the first 3 males and females. There will be no prizes for age groups winners, they will only be recognized. They stated this is due to the economic times.”

The May 24th Half Marathon is a staple of the Bermuda Day holiday, and first started in 1909 when 25 entrants took to the streets.Chris and Ashley Estwanik are the defending champions, however only Mr Estwanik will be back to defend his title, as Mrs Estwanik is expecting the couple’s second child.
