Boat Diverts To Disembark Injured Crew Member

Yesterday afternoon [June 6] the 40,146 gross ton container vessel ‘Washington Express’ diverted to Bermuda to disembark a 26 year old American crew member who had sustained an injury to his hand and wrist.

At 2:57pm the vessel rendezvoused with the pilot cutter ‘St. George’ approximately 3.1 nautical miles east of St.David’s Lighthouse where the transfer took place.

Once onshore at Ordnance Island in St George’s, the patient was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, while M/V Washington Express continued on her voyage from Bremerhaven, Germany to Charleston, South Carolina, USA.
