Martial Arts: Lepercq Memorial Results

[Updated with video] The Lepercq Memorial is a special event hosted by Bermuda Karate Institute in honor of the late Paul Lepercq, a strong supporter of martial and other arts in Bermuda.

Today [June 26] the eleventh edition was celebrated at Pembroke Sunday School, with competition in forms, weapons forms, point sparring and K-1.

Several competitors had walkover wins in both forms and sparring, but the novice boys forms, won by Alex Baillie, had a full first round of four competitors.

Also fully subscribed was the boys 9-11 sparring. Aaron Spencer topped Luis Pontes 6/2 in the first round, where Nathaniel Simmons lost to Enzar Talbot 4/0. In the final round Aaron edged Enzar 6/5 to take the gold medal. Luis lost 4/0 to Nathaniel in the match for third place.

Garon Wilkinson was 4/1 over Kent Bean and then 3/2 over Anthony Leader to take the black belt forms grandchampionship. He repeated with a weapons grandchampionship by advancing 4/1 over Anthony Leader and taking a clean 5/0 win over Kent Bean.

A three round match of K-1 kickboxing provided an exciting finish to the competition, with George Deondre Morris defeating Fabio Iannone on straight points.
