Photos: Cavaliers Reach Commercial Finals

Spring Garden Cavaliers reached the Commercial Cricket League’s Twenty20 League final when they beat current league leaders Forties and North Village at Shelly Bay field on Sunday [June 19] afternoon. Cavaliers won both matches by six wickets in the final over.

First they overhauled Forties’ 179-5 with four balls to spare in a preliminary round game and then, in an even tighter finish, passed Village’s 161-2 with just one ball to spare in the first semi-final.

Dion Ball, Jr made the highest score of the day, making an unbeaten 94 for Village, while skipper Simon Jones and fellow opener Gary Knight made 61 and 60 respectively for Forties whose bowlers let their side down with a costly 38 wides.

Cavaliers’ top batsman was Craig Smith who made 41 in both innings. Cavaliers will meet the winners of the second semi-final between BC Allrounders and Jamaican Association at Shelly Bay on August 7 at Shelly Bay field.
