Land Policy Review Working Group Meets

July 19, 2011

Following the announcement on July 8 by the Minister of National Security Wayne Perinchief of the formation of a Land Policy Review Working Group, the Group has held its first meeting to discuss the relevant issues.

Comprised of technical officers from the Ministries of Finance, Environment, Planning and Infrastructure Strategy, The Sustainable Development Unit and the Ministry of National Security, the Group is considering the various policies on landholding in Bermuda including, but not limited to, the restrictions in place for non-Bermudian ownership and that by PRC holders.

“I am glad that this team has started its work and I look forward to the results of their robust discussions,” the Minister said.

Members of the public and interested parties are reminded that submissions for consideration can be sent to landreview@gov.bm

No need to drag this out with meeting after meeting where you pretend to do something but really do F-all. Start by immediately reversing the regulation where only a non Bermudian can sell real estate to a non Bermudian as this is clearly discriminatory. Secondly, reverse the equally discriminatory regulation where a non Bermudian spouse has to get a license to jointly own a house.

Both these regulations are wrong, and obviously put in place by incompetents who should be fired for being stupid.

So stop pissing around and DO IT!!!!!!

I agree Cedar Beams. This Government needs to learn about simple economics i.e. supply and demand. Try reading The Wealth of Nations by Adam Smith as a start.

This Government have absolutely ruined Bermuda and it’s reputation and continue to blame it on the economic meltdown… too funny.

I wonder if they’ll start stealing houses from people because they have too many just like they stole the Cement Business and are trying to steal the Food distribution business…

In addition, PRC holders should be able to buy property on par with Bermudians.

DO IT NOW and as I said before, stop pissing about.

If you spend months having endless meetings and then do little or nothing – many people will be PISSED OFF (but not at all surprised).

Such is our stand still PLP government.

    1: Problem.
    2: Form committee.
    3: Hold meetings.
4: Fanny about and do nothing cos you’re totally useless.
    5: Repeat with similar results.
    6: Blame UBP.
7: Fire the only person who was actually doing something.
8: Disband and make a vague commitment to regroup at a later date.
    9: Bigger Problem.

Repeat until election then get re-elected on race baiting platform. Give thanks to God that enough of the electorate is stupid enough to believe your lies YET AGAIN!
