Pacers Conclude Successful North Carolina Meet

The third and final day of the 2011 Russell E. Blunt East Coast Invitational in North Carolina today [July 24] saw the Bermuda Pacers pick up more medals.

Darra Powell-Burgess won the Sub-Bantam Boys Long Jump Gold Medal with a leap of 3.59m, Powell-Burgess also won the Gold Medal in the Sub-Bantam Boys 100 Meter Dash in a time of 15.16 and then Powell-Burgess won a Bronze Medal in the Sub-Bantam Boys 200 Meter Dash with a time of 32.07.

Zekiah Lewis won the Bantam Girls Long Jump Gold Medal when she leaped 4.06m. Lewis then won a Bronze Medal in the Bantam Girls 100 Meter Dash with a time of 14.42. Elisha Darrell’s leap of 4.85m saw him win the Midget Boys Long Jump Gold Medal.

Kyra Scraders won the Bronze Medal in the Youth Girls 800 Meter Run clocking 2:21.56. Kyle Webb won the Intermediate Boys 100 Meter Dash clocking 11.20, Webb then won the Intermediate Boys 200 Meter Dash clocking a time of 22.03, while Sajan Harvey won a Bronze Medal in the Bantam Boys 400 Meter Dash clocking a time of 1:05.70.

The Pacers Intermediate Boys 4×100 Meter Relay team won the Silver Medal with a time of 44.21, while the Pacers Midget Girls 4×400 Meter Relay team won the Bronze Medal with a time of 4:24.93. The Pacers Youth Girls 4×400 Meter Relay team won the Bronze Medal with a time of 4:05.46.

Yesterday – the second day of competition – also saw the Bermuda Pacers pick up medals.

Demiqua Daniels won a Silver Medal in the Midget Girls Javelin Throw Measure 39′ with a toss of 25.19m, meanwhile Sean Tucker won the Silver Medal in the Midget Boys Javelin Throw Measure 80′ with a throw of 29.31m.

With a leap of 4.52m Aaliyah Nolan finished 6th in the Youth Girls Long Jump Measure 14′, Rachel Fox finished 6th in the Intermediate Girls Long Jump Measure 15′, while Justin Donawa won a Silver Medal in the Intermediate Boy’s Long Jump Measure 18′.

Jordan Bascome and Azaire Smith finished 4th and 5th in the Youth Girls High Jump Start 4’6″, both leaped 1.52m. Tyrone Oswald won the Bronze Medal in the Young Men Long Jump Measure 20′ with a leap of 6.73m, while Jaquan Hatherley finished 5th in the Intermediate Boys Shot Put Measure 38′ with a toss of 11.40m.

Eze Hart won a Bronze Medal in the Sub-Bantam Boys 1500 Meter Run clocking 6:09.23, while Bermuda won Gold and Bronze in the Youth Girls 1500m, Kyriah Scraders captured Gold clocking 5:02.68, while Zakiyyah Showers won the Bronze Medal with a time of 5:19.49, Quaashie Douglas finished 4th with a time of 5:28.92.

Juma Mouchette won the Young Men 1500 Meter Run Gold Medal with a time of 4:16.30, while Darra Powell-Burgess qualified for the Sub-Bantam Boys 100 Meter Dash final after he recorded the fastest qualifying time of 15.34.

Zekiah Lewis recorded the third fastest qualifying time to reach the Bantam Girls 100 Meter Final with a time of 14.30, One Hart finished 15th with a time of 15.03. Zariah Simmons finished 11th in the Midget Girls 100 Meter Dash with a time of 13.81.

Kyle Webb and Kidane Callendar both reached the Intermediate Boys 100 Meter Dash finals, Webb clocked 11.17, while Callender clocked 11.41.
