Upcoming: BHI Student Networking Event

August 2, 2011

Bermuda Hospitality Institute will host a Student Roundtable Discussion & Networking Event on Thursday, August 25th
from 5.15-7.30pm at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess.

With representatives from every sector of the industry, the event will allow students to hear firsthand accounts of the challenges and rewards of a hospitality career. Industry representatives include business owners, executives, and senior management from the primary sectors of guest accommodations, restaurants, entertainment and activities, and support services such as transportation and the wholesale distribution chain.

“There are numerous misconceptions about the hospitality industry,” said Karla Lacey, BHI CEO. “This is a GREAT opportunity to provide a true picture of the variety of career opportunities for students who typically get their information from sources other than those directly involved”.

Student attendees will meet face-to-face with top industry professionals in an intimate setting that allows small group discussions and promotes the teamwork that is at the heart of every hospitality business. “We’ve designed the evening to allow for great interactive dialogue between all present and have limited the number of attendees to ensure it is relevant and meaningful,” explained Ms. Lacey.

Open to high school graduates and current college students, the event is by ‘Invitation Only’. An invitation may be secured by contacting BHI through their website (www.BHI.bm) or email (info@bhi.bm).

“It’s not often young people have the opportunity to spend quality time with those at the top of their field,” said Ms. Lacey. “The professionals participating understand the impact they can have on the future workforce by sharing their experiences.
