September 10, 2011

On Thursday [Sept.8] the Bermuda Police Service held a promotion ceremony, with National Security Minister Wayne Perinchief, Acting Governor David Arkley, and Commissioner of Police Michael DeSilva present.

Sergeant Dave Greenidge was promoted to Inspector, while Constable George DeSilva, Constable Travel Brown , Constable Terry Trott and Constable Wolde Maxwell were all promoted to Sergeant.

30 minute video of the ceremony:

National Security Minister Wayne Perinchief said, “This ceremony is about service, commitment and support. Service of the men and women of the Bermuda Police Service who everyday step into the breach in the name of good order and safeguarding our communities.

“Commitment is perhaps the central theme because commitment to excellence, to self-improvement and to the task at hand is what leads to promotion in any field.

“Support is demonstrated by the friends and family gathered today who provide the security at home that allows these officers to serve and focus on the wider mission. Thank you for your support.

“I am proud to express my congratulations and best wishes today. The memories of my own career and the importance of occasions like these remain with me and so I know the value of the experience and the importance of recognizing achievement and dedication to duty.

“Congratulations and I wish you continued success in the Service.”
