PLP To Announce Candidate Tomorrow
The PLP is expected to announce their candidate for the upcoming by-election in Constituency #12 Devonshire South Central tomorrow [Sept.19]. The by-election was called due to the resignation of John Barritt, and is scheduled for November 1st.
Mr Barritt has held the seat for 18 years, winning a large percentage of the vote in the four general elections he contested. In 2007 election, Mr Barritt received 85% of the vote [723 to 122] against the PLP’s Linda Merritt. In 2003, Mr Barritt garnered 90% of the vote [747 to 83] against the PLP’s Dorothy Burch.
Senator Craig Cannonier will stand for the OBA, while the UBP’s plans for the by-election are not yet clear.

ALERT!!!! Politics is a dirty business and we are about to have a dirty election. The two parties will use everything they can to win. The last election was won on the race card as usual. But the PLP has to actually think harder this time. Cos people who look like them are fed up with PLP lying cheating and stealing from the public. They have nothing at all to offer the public if it is not based upon moaning about evil white people. To actually get voted on performance is a non starter. So they can TRY the race card again – but will it work. Only Premier Cog can decide. Think carefully ms Cog.

Your hate not only sickens me but reveals you as the ignorant individual you are. “Dorothy Burch” is the late Mrs. D. Aurelia Burch JP, an educator of great stature and a former principal of Harrington Sound School. This woman selflessly gave of herself to this country and to the causes in which she believed. When no-one else would, she ran for the PLP in the old Paget East against Sir John Swan and Dr. John Stubbs. She was one of the earliest members of the PLP and taught a generation of this country’s children for forty years. How dare you be so flippant with the legacy of great woman. You are the element of the OBA that Cannonier cannot control and is desperate to hide. Keep posting this stuff BerNews, it will remind the fence sitters just who they’re thinking about getting into bed with.

Who says this pen name BurchHater is an “element of the OBA”? This could very well be a PLP member or anyone else that has an axe to grind against Col. Burch. To be honest after his “house N” comment on HOTT107.5 I’m sure the list is quite long.

Wonder if the PLP candidate will actually do some canvassing. Not likely. A PLP candidate has not been seen in the area for 30 years. Might be nice to have one show up at the door. There are 13 years of failure & almost $2B that I would like to have explained to me.
If one is selected, guaranteed it will be a ‘nobody’. The heirarchy will be busy climbing over each other for front row in the stronghold seats. Don’t want to have to work too hard for the seat you know.
