Tourism Department Wins Gold Service Award

September 13, 2011

bermuda_feel the loveSubscribers of Meetings & Conventions, one of one America’s most influential magazines for meeting planners and professionals, recently voted the Bermuda Department of Tourism [BDOT] as one of the world’s best at accommodating corporate and association meetings, trade shows and incentive travel programs.

Through an annual survey, the meeting planners rewarded the destination with the publication’s 2011 Gold Service Award.

This most recent recognition marks the 20th time the Island has won the coveted award.

“We are incredibly honoured and excited that Meetings & Conventions’ readers have selected Bermuda for the 2011 Gold Service Award,” said William Griffith, Bermuda’s Director of Tourism.

“Our group sales department takes great pride in highlighting what the Island has to offer for planners – from proximity and top-notch meeting space to a range of accommodations and diverse attractions for groups to explore.”

Published with the November 2011 issue, the supplement announcing the industry’s best is used throughout the year by subscribers planning meetings, incentives and conventions. Bermuda is also a member of the Meetings & Conventions’ Gold Service Hall of Fame.

This elite club only accepts tourism boards that have won at least 12 Gold Awards and truly measures a destination’s excellence and endurance within the meetings industry.

    What? No Platinum?

It seems Bermuda was one of >100 gold Award winners along with the Richmond Metropolitan Visitors & Convention Bureau, Team San Jose etc. etc. but I guess it’s at least some positive tourism news after the bus strikes and inadequate transport reports.

Who was dishing out the award?. A member of the PLP

For crying out load – Go back to Lovely Glasgow! Who the hell would want to host an incentive meeting in Glasgow? Oh my mistake, Glasgow didn’t win the award, Bermuda did!

      Well done BDOT!

Glasgow has more culture and life, is more socially progressive and exciting than Bermuda could ever hope to be. Except the weather sucks.
