Alleged Robbers Out On Bail

September 23, 2011

After over two hours of legal wrangling, Ezra Ararat and Zharrin Simmons, two of the three persons who were accused of the Hermitage Road robbery are now out on bail.

At the end of yesterday morning’s [Sept.22] bail hearing before Senior Magistrate Archie Warner, lawyer Charles Richardson arguing for Ezra Ararat, and lawyer Marc Pettingill arguing for Zharrin Simmons, saw each of their clients released on $15,000 bail with one like Surety.

Magistrate Warner set these additional bail conditions. That both Ms Simmons and Ararat should report daily to the Hamilton Police Station between 8:00am and 8:00pm; and that daily, each person must be at their stated residence between the hours of 9:00pm and 6:00am.

Magistrate Warner remanded the third accused Ezra Williams in custody. All three must re-appear on 6th October.

This is absolutely outrageous. These creeps are animals. None of us are safe when they’re out. Lock them the hell up.

I’m sure they’ll use this opportunity to turn their life around. They’ll find god, cuddle kittens at the SPCA and help the elderly and infirm.

Thanks Pettingill. You did such great work on the Rebecca Middleton case, its good to see you back in form.

Can’t believe this!! For a little weed you lock em up…..traffic offenders you give such a heavy fine they end up in jail anyway…..for thugs you give em bail?!?! Crazy…..just crazy!! That female, Ms. Simmons [edited for legal reasons] not to be found for maybe 10 years!!!!

Again, another example of the weak justice in Bermuda when it comes to robbery, pedophilia, gun possession, harboring fugitives, and assault. Did anyone see the article about the pedophile that was only given two years after being found GUILTY for previous similar convictions back in the nineties? Because of the weak and feeble Bermuda justice system a ten year old boy will now be damaged probably for the rest of his life. It is sickening.
