17-Yr-Old Faces Drug Charges

October 6, 2011

In Plea Court this morning, a seventeen year-old male pleaded not guilty to three charges involving illegal drugs.

The first charge alleged that on 19th May 2011, at the Bus Terminal in Hamilton, he was in possession of a quantity of cannabis that was intended for supply.

The second was that on the same day, but this time at “Allspice Gardens” in Warwick, he possessed an amount of cannabis intended for supply.

The third allegation was that, still on the same day and near “Allspice Gardens” in Warwick, he was in possession of scissors and other items intended for use in the preparation for sale of illegal drugs.

The proximity of the Bus Terminal and “Allspice Gardens” meant that all three alleged offences took place in Increased Penalty Zones.

Magistrate Juan Wolffe set the seventeen year-old’s bail at $2,000 and required that someone stand Surety in the same amount. Albouy’s trial was set for 24 January 2012.

POLICE-’excuse me sir, we believe you to be in possession of a controlled substance’

no point in lockin him up, he’s just a product of our archaic system..yes fine him for illegalling supplying a commodity, but at the same time lock up the goslings and barritt for supplying drugs that actually harm and kill people….this kid whether rightly or wrongly was supplying a commodity highly demanded in society, we are capitalist, prohibition of any substance in a society like ours DOESNT work, PERIOD.

instead proper regulation should be put in place to ensure that kids don’t sell it thus limiting the amount of individuals able to get it to over 18 adults…i dont see no 17 year old selling alcohol or cigarettes

The money involved in the black market of marijuana is tempting for these teenagers and I would bet that most of these men involved in the black market of marijuana got their start at a fairly early age. When you see everyone around you having nice things and your parents can’t afford those things, this is easy money to get what you want. Sad but true. And so the black market cycle continues….
