Cable and Wireless Renamed LinkBermuda
EastLink International Holdings Inc. announced the rebranding and renaming of its recent acquisition of Cable and Wireless (Bermuda) Holdings Ltd. to LinkBermuda Holdings Ltd. and its subsidiary companies. C&W Bermuda Ltd. is renamed LinkBermuda Ltd, while C&W eBusiness Ltd. is renamed SpheraLink Ltd.
Quantum Communications Ltd., in which LinkBermuda has a 40% ownership interest, will retain its current name and services.
In announcing these changes, Ann Petley-Jones, CEO of EastLink International and the LinkBermuda Group, said: “We are very excited to be entering this next phase in LinkBermuda’s development.”
“We view these companies as a long-term investment and are committed to play a key role in Bermuda’s economy as a major supplier of communications services. LinkBermuda has a long tradition of investing in its infrastructure and operations, and we are now building on that foundation. We have invested in people, networks and data centres.
“We have kept and are growing our local Bermuda workforce. We have repatriated dozens of corporate functions to Bermuda from the UK. We have hired Bermudians in executive management, operations, sales and customer care positions.”
“We are expanding into cloud computing and international data centre services. We are planning for an expansion into other information services products.
“We remain fully supportive of regulatory reform which we anticipate will enable a level playing field in the telecom sector and lead to further investments in the sector.
“We are poised for further investment in Bermuda.”
