October 13, 2011

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry will offer a special employment advisory service as part of this week’s Career Fair. The 7th Annual Career Fair kicks off today [Oct.13] and continues on Friday, starting at 10.00 a.m. on both days.

This week’s event will be held at the Bermuda College, and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and the Ministry of Education has joined with more than a dozen organizations to sponsor the career event, with more than 70 exhibitors profiling career opportunities for Bermuda’s youth.

Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Kim Wilson – who will be on hand for the opening of the event – encouraged those adults who are currently unemployed to attend tomorrow’s Fair, as the Ministry will be hosting a special and new feature called the Career Transition component.

This aspect of the event will take place today only from 4.00 p.m. – 6.00 p.m., and will feature the Bermuda Small Business Development Corporation, the National Training Board and the Department of Labour and Training assisting adults seeking career guidance.

Minister Wilson said “I want to encourage all those who may be unemployed to attend tomorrow’s Career Fair. We understand that these are tough times, however we will be on hand to assist where we can. Whether individuals are unemployed, seeking a career, looking to upgrade their skills or looking to embark on becoming an entrepreneur, our sections will collectively provide attendees with sound career advice.”

“We believe that if we are to succeed, it will take the coming together of the public and private sector to chart a course of recovery. And this event is a clear demonstration of that. We welcome this event as we see it as another step in readying our Bermudians to take their rightful place in our workforce.”
