Fitness Bay Resort Opens: Cambridge Beaches

November 25, 2011

It’s often been said visitors to Bermuda lose themselves in paradise when they’re on the island. But now they can lose weight and tone up here as well as  Fitness Bay Resort today [Nov. 25] announced the opening of their retreat-style, all-inclusive fitness programme at Cambridge Beaches Hotel & Spa.

The results-oriented programme is similar to the one featured on the network television series “The Biggest Loser” and focusses on exercise and healthy eating.

Participants take energetic hikes, yoga, core-conditioning, spinning and other low-impact exercises and learn how to make simple life-style changes, while low calorie, nutritious meals are specially prepared by Cambridge Beaches Chefs.

Their motto is “Lose Weight in Paradise”, says co-owner Norma Thomson, whose brainchild it was to start a business dedicated to helping people adopt a healthy “Biggest Loser” lifestyle.

“And what better place to offer the programme than at Cambridge Beaches, where many of our activities can take place on pristine pink-sand beaches and gorgeous hiking trails,” she said. “And just a short walk away we’ve got access to the fully-equipped gym, indoor swimming pool and other world-class facilities of Sandys 360.”

Mrs. Thomson added “We’re creating a ‘retreat-like’ atmosphere and participants can come for a week, or long weekend. Because we’re so close to the East Coast, we’re initially attracting business from major US cities such as New York, Boston, Atlanta, Miami and Philadelphia”.

“Fitness Bay Resort is designed to introduce men and women of all ages to a new, healthier life-style. Our goal is to help them kick start their metabolism and set them on the right course, so that when they return home they’ll be motivated to stay with the same daily habits they’ve learned here in Bermuda.

This is a great idea and in a Fabulous location. Look into advertising in Canada as well. People out here want to get rid of their holiday guts in time for summer and wedding season.

A brilliant concept and sure to be a success under Norma’s direction! Bermuda needs more creative endeavors like this to make tourism what it once was. Well done Norma!

  7. DinosaurMedia says:

Wow…this is great. I really hope this is the sucess it deserves to be.

What I like most about it is that it is totally free market…no government intervention or subsidies…just a raw idea brought to fruition by a person who has a track record of sucess in implementing and coordinating events!

I really believe that this can be a big hit..it even has the potential to become “Biggest Loser – Bermuda!” – now that would be a great promotion for OUR Island!

How about that – no “faith” based anything with tens of thousands squandered in the name of who?

If anything Norma had “faith” in herself. Awesome.

  8. Well done Norma. a winner for sure!

Congratulations to Norma and her partners,

During our tough economic times it is refreshing to see some insight and proactive thinking. Success in business isn’t based on good luck – it involves market share evaluation, adherence to a sound business plan, a mindful attitude to staffing issues, and awareness of the changing needs and wishes of one’s clientele. Your due diligence will pay off, literally. I wish you the very best, and thank-you for your positive, realistic contribution to Bermuda’s economy.

    Well done!
