Two Teens Arrested, Officer Injured

Two teenagers are expected to make a Court appearance after an incident yesterday [Dec.7] on Front Street saw one police officer receive minor injuries.

A police spokesperson said, “Around 3:10pm on Wednesday, December 7th police arrested a 17 year old Sandys parish man on Front Street near the junction with King Street, Pembroke in relation to an outstanding warrant.

“During the arrest, an 18 year old Sandys parish man believed to be a friend of the apprehended teen apparently attempted to intervene.

“However, additional police officers promptly attended the scene and both teenagers were taken into custody without further incident.

“A police officer received minor injuries while making the initial arrest and was treated at KEMH. A court appearance for both young men is anticipated in due course.”

    It will be interesting to see what the charge is. The choices are Resisting Arrest or Assault.

    Usually, a person treated leniently gets charged with Resisting Arrest, and a person treated less leniently gets charged with Assault. In this case the officer was injured, which suggests there was an assault.

    But let’s see.
