BCB Supports Cricket In Pan Ams

January 5, 2012

The Bermuda Cricket Board [BCB] said they are “very supportive of the efforts of Cricket Canada, and other ICC Americas’ Region NSGB’s, to promote the inclusion of cricket in the 2015 Pan American Games.”

Lloyd Fray, President of the BCB noted: “The promotion of our great sport in any multi-national games event is a huge opportunity to develop the game and provide incentives for our players. It also allows the community additional opportunity to connect with, and be vitalized by, competition at an international event.

“The BCB is one of many countries that is diligently promoting and canvassing for the inclusion of cricket in The Olympic Games, the Pan American Games in addition to the Commonwealth Games in Scotland in 2014.”

“The BCB has always enjoyed a strong bond with the Bermuda Olympic Association. The Spirit of the Cricket mirrors many of the attributes of the Olympic Charter and traditions and values associated with its events. The BCB has a strong junior and development program; it has embraced the WADA code for many years and has supported the development of elite level athletes.

“With the additional support of the consideration of cricket in the Pan American Games being considered at the March meeting of PASO the BCB will be applying for membership of the Bermuda Olympic Association in the near future.”
