Court: Theft Of Shih Tzu Puppy
In Magistrates Court this morning [Jan.20], 39-year-old Wendy Catherine Francis [also known as Lightbourn] was before Senior Magistrate Archie Warner to answer a string of charges, including stealing a Shih Tzu puppy that was valued at $2,000.
The first matter to be dealt with was her failure to attend Court on 15th December 2011. After accepting her explanation for her December absence, the Magistrate read out over two dozen charges stemming from allegations of offences that commenced as far back as 26th May 2011.
Over twenty of the charges related to the alleged theft and later misuse of stolen HSBC Debit cards belonging to women, or relatives of women, for whom Ms Francis was responsible in her job as a caregiver.
The charges were that between May 2011 and November 2011, Ms Francis had allegedly used the stolen cards to purchase goods at stores including Lindo’s supermarkets, Gorham’s Ltd, Chopsticks restaurant, The Shoe Centre, People’s Pharmacy, A.S. Cooper’s, Shelly Bay Marketplace, Autobahn Accessories, Noah’s Ark and TBA Wholesalers.
Ms Francis, a mother of three, was also charged with stealing a Shih Tzu puppy that was valued at $2,000. The alleged theft was said to have occurred on Christmas Eve of last year.
Rejecting the DPP’s request that Ms Francis should now be remanded into custody, the Senior Magistrate ordered that she should be released on $5,000 bail with one like Surety; and gave her a Mention date of 27th January.

Ontop of being charged with abusing her position of trust to allegedly steal from her employers as a caregiver. Not to buy Groceries or even medication but to go to Autobahn Accessories, The Shoe Centre and A.S. Cooper’s.

Judging from some of the comments her from folks claiming to be her family, I gather that they condone what she allegedly did…that’s sad. Apparently she didn’t pass on morals and values.

@Bernews….how is the public supposed to be able to protect themselves from individuals who are known felons. There should be a website showing their faces and criminal history.
How do these people manage to get jobs as caregivers when they have criminal records.
There have been so many other cases that have come before the courts of people stealing from elderly people who do not have the resources to find out about these people’s criminal history.
What infuriates me is that family members and coworkers protect these prolific felons and believe it is ok for them to take the belongings of others and think that they should not be convicted!! Perhaps it a family enterprise and they are benefitting from it!!

@Know Your Place..I don’t normally respond to morons and persons of limited intellect, but it is responses such as yours that infuriate me and other right thinking people.
I was not being judgemental. People have a right to be able to protect themselves from repeat offenders, especially when they have shown no signs of rehabilitation.
How would you like to be an elderly person or any person for that matter and trust someone who decides that it is their right to steal their money and personal belongings!
Right is right and wrong is wrong! If you do the crime, be prepared to be convicted and do the time and also be prepared to suffer the consequences once you are released from prison!
We have choices in life, so please stop making excuses for your socially unacceptable behaviours!!

Ok, Bernews, can u verify this as I have not seen an update on you site. Please advise if this Ladies charges have been dropped as there is a bb going around that states “From: Wendy Francis as known as Lighbourne. Too all u itches that are so worried and asking what happened too me yesterday in court and was looking on Bernews =)) …. I’m free ok.. All charges was drop…here something for u all too talk about…;;) …u all run with sh%t and don’t know not f off!
