Police Update On Recent Shootings

The 24-year-old man who was shot outside Gravity Nightclub on North Shore Road last month remains overseas receiving treatment, and the two men arrested for the shooting of a 38-year-man in Southampton have been released on police bail.

A police spokesperson said, “The 24-year-old gunshot victim that suffered serious injuries after a shooting outside Gravity Nightclub on North Shore Road in Devonshire during the early morning hours of Saturday, 17th December 2011 remains overseas receiving specialised treatment.

“Forensic evidence obtained from that scene has been sent overseas for analysis and detectives are working with key witnesses to progress the case.

“Detectives also continue to investigate the shooting of a 38 year old man outside his residence on East Avenue, Southampton during the early evening hours of Wednesday, 21st December 2011.

“The two men that were initially taken into custody regarding the Southampton incident have been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

“The two shootings are not believed to be linked; however members of the public with information about either incident are again urged to come forward and assist in bringing these offenders to justice.

“Any information passed to the Serious Crime Unit on 247-1079 will be dealt with discreetly and in confidence. In addition, anyone with information about these incidents is encouraged to contact the independent and confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 800-8477.”
