104 Teens Nominated For Teen Awards
Teen Services announced that the nomination process for the Outstanding Teen Awards is complete, and there were 104 nominees for the year 2012.
A spokesperson said, “Teen Services would like to thank all of the schools and organizations who nominated these senior students. In addition, Teen Services would like to thank our 50 volunteers that assisted us by serving as committee members on one or more committees for the Outstanding Teen Awards interviews. All of the interviews for the 11 categories were held in the month of January 2012.”
Selena Simons, Chairperson of the Overall Outstanding Teen Committee states “I would like to acknowledge the excellent caliber of students in this category. While reviewing their profiles and various achievements it was immediately obvious that these students are Bermuda’s High Flyers!
“They are extraordinary and amazing. A recurring theme throughout the interviews was that they found unique ways to maximize their time and they seemed to be highly skilled in a variety of areas.”
Ms. Necheeka Trott, Chairperson of the Leadership Committee says “It has been a pleasure and honor to serve as Chair of the Leadership Committee. Each year I serve on this committee, it provides me a renewed sense of what our island home has to offer.
“This year’s students have a phenomenal work ethic and I admire their ability to balance their leadership roles with demands of their school work and other extra-curricular activities. These students’ inherent leadership abilities also show their commitment to not only their schools and/or organizations but the Bermuda Community at large.”
“On the 24th of March the awards presentation will be held at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess starting at 6pm and the winners will be announced on the night of the event. We must publicly thank our Lead Sponsor KeyTech Limited that has generously donated towards 5 categories.
