Court: Man Charged With Machete Attack
In Magistrates Court this morning [Feb.2] 26- year old Ahijah Dill faced the indictable charge of wounding someone and a second charge of possessing a bladed article – a machete – in an Increased Penalty Zone as he was said to be within 300 metres of Dellwood Middle school.
The charges arose out of an incident in which Mr Dill is alleged to have approached the victim and asked him for a cigarette. On being refused, Mr Dill is alleged to have used a machete to seriously injure the victim, who sustained lacerations and a broken elbow which required surgery.
The incident is said to have occurred just outside the Leopard’s Club on Saturday 22nd January 2012.
Senior Magistrate Archie Warner ordered that Mr Dill should be remanded into custody pending a re-appearance in Magistrates Plea Court on 16th February 2012. Because the case must be dealt with in Supreme Court, he was not required to enter a plea.
