Tall Ship “Thor Heyerdahl” Returns

February 28, 2012

Arriving on the heels of the departing Sail Training Vessel “Eendracht”, another tall ship training vessel “Thor Heyerdahl” is presently berthed at Penno’s Wharf in St. George’s.

The vessel, enroute from Havana, Cuba to Horta, Azores will be here for approximately one week. The training tall ship has thirty two students on board with five teachers and ten crew. The German topsail schooner is a regular visitor to Bermuda with its last visit in March 2011.

The training ship will be offering open ship visits to those interested in learning more about the day to day operations on board. Their website says “Our goal is to encourage the trainees in the development of independence and taking responsibility, encourage them, even some “tackle” to discovering that there’s more in them than they think.”
