  1. Family Man says:

Why are they still breeding pit bulls?

  2. Voice of Reason says:

Had to be a pit-bull, ain’t no one stealing anything else!

  3. Rummy says:

    Status symbol.
Clearly an idication of helping the SPCA……
    Ooops…..

  4. Doglover says:

Pitbulls are illegal and breeeding them is illegal, the dog wardens are collecting and euthanising all illegal prohibited breeds, of which pitbulls and mixes are. so even if they get the dog back the wardens will likley take it anyway

    • Doglover says:

that should be all unliceneced and illegally bred puppies

      • Eyes Wide Open says:

So…because a puppy is of an “illegal” breed or unlicensed, it’s fine to have it euthanized. You sound like you are supporting this practice. Disgusting! Doglover my @ss! P.S. learn how to spell

        • Doglover says:

I am sorry about my spelling offended you. I am a dog lover and an owner of a pit mix, who was born before the ban. I love my pitmix and they are wonderful pets. I only made this comment as i was recently saddened to be told that the dog wardens have been cracking down on all illegaly bred pitbulls (whic basically means any pitbull bred after the ban was instated) and since the amnesty last year they are no longer legitamising or accepting/licencing any newdogs that are pitbull or crosses. This saddens me deeply as it is not a breed with inherent problems other than bad people. I dont feel tha they should be put to sleep, but homed with approriate familys who care for them propperly, and that the best way to cut down on illegal breeding is to have the offending owners have to spey/ neuther thier dogs, it hardly seems fair to punish an innocent puppy. What i stated is current government policy. I personally would truly hate to see pitbulls become extinct as they are genuinely loving and caring dogs with the right owner.

      • Freedom says:

More like the breeder should be prosecuted?

    • SM says:

Not if it is fixed. Get the facts.

  5. cheryl says:

    puppy has been found…and returned….

    • Family Man says:

Why was it returned and not seized by the dog wardens.

Oh, never mind, “dog wardens” ….

  6. Rummy says:

    Case solved.
Too bad they can’t do the same with illegal breeding in the house of assembly.

    • 911 says:

That is a very rude comment about house of Assembly

    • smh says:

A puppy was stolen. A puppy was found.

Do we have to make everything a political fiasco?

  7. SM says:

Thank god it was returned safe and sound.

  8. S says:

I can’t believe most of these comments on this page. This a family pet. Whether its a pitbull or cat or mix of cat and pitbull! It’s a pet. If you have nothing nice to say keep quiet and keep the sarcastic comments to yourself. This theft upset a young child that was very attached to the dog. Be happy he was found safe and unharmed. just have to shake my head on these comments. Obviously none of you are pet lovers.

    • no strategy says:

Don’t you mean to say “Illegal family pet”?

OK, so a young child was upset that an illegal pet was taken.

What would you say to the child if the Dog Warden took it?

  9. justsoyouknow says:

I called and spoke to the wardens…in 2003 a policy was put in place by the Government prohibiting the breeding and importation of certain breeds of dogs as a public safety concern. The ILLEGAL breeding of said dogs has been going on since that time, and from what I was told, yes the wardens do a job, and seize and put down these ILLEGAL dogs/puppies. They do not enjoy having to do this but it is their job. There was an Amnesty last year that gave people that had gotten these ILLEGAL dogs a chance to legalize them. Yes they had to be fixed as part of the conditions. It would seem to make no sense to leglaize them and let people that already broke the law continue to do so by breeding their ILLEGAL puppy down the road. After August 31, 2011 if a banned breed dog had not been brought forward to the Government it doesnt matter if it is microchipped or fixed or both. If it was not legalized before August 31, 2011 it IS ILLEGAL and will REMAIN ILLEGAL. If a banned breed dog is found straying or seized by the wardens and it is not microchipped and in their database it is ILLEGAL and the owner of the dog is subject to prosecution and the dog/puppy for euthanasia. The moral of this story… if you feel so bad for these dogs then STOP BUYING them.. so people STOP BREEDING them!! It is not the wardens fault for doing their job, it is the fault of the people supportiing the ILLEGAL breeding of such dogs by purchasing the puppies to begin with.

  10. Awake says:

It’s too bad the dog wardens choose NOT to find (actually get off their lazy backsides), and have prosecuted the JERKS who partake in illegal DOG FIGHTING that takes place on this island thus the reasons for banning particular breeds of dogs!!! IDIOTS!!! No, instead it’s easier to look for the banned animals and have them euthanized!!!

    • informant?? says:

And if you know where these fights are taking place.. have you called them to let them know where and when they are happening? Or are you being a typical Bermudian and B******* about something after the fact and doing nothing proactive to stop it?
