Video: Drumline “Respect The Rhythm” Show

May 21, 2012

The Drumline show “Respect The Rhythm” was held yesterday [May 20] at the National Stadium, featuring guest international marching bands from Howard University in Washington DC and Gwynn Park High School from Maryland.

Organized by Yhoshi Productions, the event also included local acts and Drumline groups National Drumline, PHC Drumcorp, Sandys Showtime Drumline and Whitney Drumline.

Bootsie and Jason Gordon were MCs for the afternoon and kept the crowd entertained throughout the performances along with DJ Cal, while vendors were on hand to provide refreshments for the crowd. Overcast skies kept the conditions comfortable and the rain held off long enough for the event to take place without incident.  The final performance of the evening included several of the entertainers coming together as one to finish the event, with audience members coming to their feet in the stands.

So sorry I had to miss this!! We’ve imported a lot of things from overseas – cultures, behaviours, etc., some of which have not been very positive. This, however, is IMHO, by far one of the better imports!

I applaud the students – musicians, dancers and singers. May you go from strength to strength! I am hoping this event will be held annually. Attendance will only improve, I am positive. Maybe one day we will be inviting other schools from the US down to play. Another boost for tourism!

$183.75 for a family of five (kids ages 6,9, and 10) TOO MUCH for a family event. A family rate would have been appropriate….oh and add snacks drinks….we didn’t go….though we have in the past. Woulda been a lovely event. Hope you had good numbers to allow the event to continue. Maybe next year you will make it a better price for families and more of us can enjoy this fab event.

      SE,
How much cheaper do you want it to be?!!!!It is very expensive to put on shows like this. People pay more than that on one child to get into Disney et al, maybe you can start saving for next year. Unfortunately quality costs, the promoters got lucky that the weather held up, just imagine if it was awash.

      • Spider says:

Disney is a far cry from this! Come on!

      • Arthur - Atlanta says:

Truth be told…for Disney, it is $183…for a 3 day pass!
