Bermuda Win Three Medals In El Salvador

[Updated] Bermuda captured two medals on the first day of the XIX Central American and Caribbean Junior Championships taking place in El Salvador. Kyrah Scraders won a gold medal in the 800m, while Taylor Ashley Bean won a bronze medal in the 3000m.

Justin Donawa finished 5th in the Boy’s B Long Jump final with a top leap of 6.59m, Donawa recorded a Foul on his first attempt before jumping 6.54m on his second attempt, a Foul followed on his third before his 6.59m jump came on his fourth attempt, Donawa closed out with leaps of 6.47m and 6.44m.

Chas Smith finished 8th with a top leap of 6.56m. Smith recorded leaps of 6.38m, 6.56m, 6.49m, 6.21m, 6.45m and 6.36m.

Kyrah Scraders won a gold medal when she won the Girls 800m B final clocking a time of 2:12.57. Scraders beat out Hannia Flores from Mexico, and Mariana Perez from the Dominican Republic who finished second and third.

Dage Minors finished 7th in the Boy’s 800m B final clocking a time of 1:59.00, while Shaquille Dill finished 8th in the Boy’s 800m A final crossing the line in a time of 1:55.50.

Taylor Ashley Bean won a bronze medal in the Girls 3000m A when she finished third clocking a time of 11:25.48. Taahirah Butterfield finished 7th in the Girls 100m B final clocking a time of 12.45, while Kyle Webb finished 5th in the Boy’s 100m B final with a time of 10.80.

Update 2.15pm: Kyrah Scraders has won another gold medal.
