June 22, 2012

St. George’s Colts footballer Chea Simmons was airlifted out of Bermuda after being struck with a mystery illness.

Mayor of St. George’s Kenneth Bascome — the footballer’s uncle –said, “I would first like to thank those in the general public who have kept Chea in their prayers, we still at this time do not know what the prognosis is, we are just hoping that he can make a full recovery from this.”

Simmons, 34, was admitted to the King Edward Memorial Hospital over the weekend, and was in the Intensive Care Unit before being flown to Lahey Clinic in Bostom for additional medical treatment.

Simmons transferred back to St. George’s Colts a few season ago after spending several years playing for the Boulevard Blazers.
