The Book Cellar Gets A Fresh Start

June 25, 2012

The Book Cellar on Water Street, St George’s held its official opening on Saturday [June 23] under new management. Back in February, Kristin White happened across a Facebook message stating The Book Cellar in St George’s was closing after over 30 years in business and her mind started whirling.

She, together with her husband Dueane Dill, are avid book readers and were regular customers at the Book Cellar. Within a week, they made the decision to buy the business and continue offering its cozy style of literature offerings. The excited new business owners made a few changes and renovations over the next month and re-opened the store approximately a month later.

On Saturday the family run business celebrated its official opening with book readings by local authors Tracey Caswell and JK Aspinall and hosted a children’s book character parade. Children dressed up as their favourite book characters and were introduced to the gathered crowd and paraded down Water Street. Participants were given a gift bag and gift certificate for purchases in the Book Cellar.
